Children's Christmas Party 2008

The Ladies Auxiliary hosted their annual Children's Christmas Saturday, December 20, 2008. Each year the Ladies Auxiliary holds this event to benefit the community and brighten the Christmas of many children from the area. This year had the biggest turn out in years and the Ladies were able to bring joy and entertainment to more than seventy five children and their families.

Children began arriving at 2 pm and the Ladies held games to make the wait for Santa's arrival more tolerable for the youngsters. Doc, President of the Men's Auxiliary, supplied some great Christmas music and many VFW members helped and shared the fun with the families. Hot dogs were grilled and everyone ate before Santa was to arrive.

Every year the women of the Ladies Auxiliary plan fundraisers and events to make the Children's Christmas Party happen. They held bake sales and enlisted the help of the Defenders LE M/C in organizing a Children's Christmas Poker Run.

Finally at 3:15 Santa arrived in a Lealman Fire truck. The old gentleman spoke with each of the children, listened to their wishes and passed out gifts. The happiness and wonder on the faces of the kids made all of the effort worthwhile. We thank the families for sharing the joy of giving with us and look forward to holding this event again next year.
